Community Spotlight: Atlas Organics partners with BMW Charity Pro-Am

Over the weekend of June 10th, a flurry of celebrities, amateur golfers, and golf enthusiasts swept into the Upstate of South Carolina. They were all attending the BMW Charity Pro-Am, a locally known golf tournament founded in 1992. Atlas Organics, with headquarters just 30 minutes from the host course Thornblade Country Club, was pleased to be a part of this event for the second year in a row.

Atlas partnered with South Carolina Charities, Inc. (SCCI) and BMW to continue in their sustainability efforts. In 2021 a new sustainability program was announced, in partnership with Univar Solutions, for the BMW Charity Pro-Am presented by SYNNEX Corporation. Their goal was to become the first tournament on the Korn Ferry Tour to send zero waste to landfills. Efforts have included the launch of a three-year plan for the BMW Charity Pro-Am to achieve the Golf Environmental Organization (GEO) certification which is an initiative led by the GEO Foundation, an international non-profit dedicated to helping advance sustainability in and through golf. These efforts were built upon for this year’s tournament with obvious growth both in participation by sustainability vendors and focused effort on details like cutting down on contaminants thanks to volunteers at waste stations.

For this year’s BMW Charity Pro-Am, Atlas provided commercial composting hauling, provided compost for the planting of new trees, shared composting education, joined in the sustainability village, and spoke to dozens of other partners at the sustainability luncheon.

  • This year 1655 pounds of waste were diverted from landfills from this event alone!
  • The marketing team from Atlas Organics was out connecting with those who attended the tournament. Giving out compost samples, sharing about Compost House, and even giving away a Yeti Cooler, the team was excited to be a part of the sustainability village with other like-minded vendors from around the upstate.
  • Our VP of Marketing, Stefan Holt, was given the opportunity to speak with dozens of partners at the sustainability luncheon on Friday June 10th. He shared about the mission of Atlas and the impact of our work in the composting industry and beyond!

Atlas Organics looks forward to continuing this partnership for many years to come. We are excited to see events, big and small, embracing the sustainability movement and creating a greater focus on becoming zero waste!
